I currently have an 80gb hitachi ide hdd, i would like to purchase another hdd as mine is becoming quite full, i will use the new one as a place to store movies, music. What do i need to do to install this? I just hook it up and windows will recognize it? I see all this stuff about partioning and the like, just wondering

well yes hook it up and it should recongize it, but just have to watch the jumpers make sure one is set to master and the other slave, or one slave and the other cable select.

yeah, just hook it up and make sure jumpers are set right, master for the 80 GB and slave for the new one. partioning is only if you want to make it appear like you have more than on drive on that drive... like one for movies, one for music... it's just a way to divide it up for organization. definitly go big if you are planning on putting movies on it, though.

If you are getting a faster HDD, it may be worthwhile to install your OS on the faster HDD. You can use Norton Ghost to transfer a mirror image of your data onto the new HDD and format the old HDD. (I'd get a SATA HDD in that case.)
