I got a 9800 o/c 420/370. Ive tried both cats and omega drivers. If Ii put my settings to 1024*768 High details, no AA trillinear. Is choppy as hell pretty much unplayable. i gotta go 800*600 to play with those settings and it still crashes once in a while with a memory reference error. Any ideas. I think I am going to nuke and reload everything tonite.

I run my ATI 9700 Pro at or above 9800 Pro speeds and I run at 1024x768 with high details and it is smooth. I used to run it at 1280x1024 with medium details however any water would just crush my poor little card.

Radeon 9100 - 1024x768 max settings, smooth as butter.

MX440se - 800x600 max settings, smooth as butter.

'Couse, there are a lot of shaders missing lol.

Are you talking about a 9800np, pro, or XT? What cpu do you have? Is it overclocked? More info would be very helpful...(like complete system specs)...

Anyway, I have a 9800 Pro flashed to XT, running at 412/365 and it runs HL2 very smooth, 1024x768 with everything set to its highest settings (except water, at second highest setting) and 2x AA - 2x AF.

If you have a decent cpu you might try downclocking your video card. My card will run at much higher speeds than I use it at without giving me artifacts, but in some games the higher speeds actually give me less performance and instability.

This is my system...

2.4C @ 3.4
1 Gb OCZ PC4000 El Gold
9800 Pro -> XT 423/370

I was able to run 1280 x 1024 at all high settings and still have 30-40 FSB...... 1024 x 768 all high (4AF 2AA) and get 45 FPS.

when i play HL2, my vcard (9800pro 128) starts to have little changing color thingies on textures, first starting off with something liek the hands then moving onto more things... its gay, it dosn't do it on doom 3, im running at maxed settings with no aa and trilinear (reccomended for my system)

it could be cuz i applied thermal paste wrong, and my video card was in a fire where it got covered in soot. I cleaned it off as best i could with rubbing alchohol and it looked good... o well

Everything high, even AA and such at 1024x800... LCD monitor. Card flashed to XT from Pro r350. Has a Zalman on.

I do not have a 9800 but from what I remember the R360 is the core that allowed you to flash the bios from Pro to XT. Change back to original bios and see wha happpens.

Heh... sorry, cooter... but I'm too lazy. And HL2 got deleted after I beat it.

Ok so i reloaded windows it seems to work alittle better but. my systems is 2600+ o/c to 2400mhz 512mb ddr400. powercolor 9800 pro oc to 415/370 was 420/375. omega 5.1 drivers (newest) i can run smoothly at 1024x768 no aa, trilinear af, low shadows, low reflections, high details and textures. are the omega that are based on the previous cat drivers better.
