DVD/Sound issue

Ok my problem is that when I try to play a DVD in either of my 2 dvd drives is that the video plays fine but there is no sound. I have my drivers installed, my speakers turned on, and my sound not muted. Also my computer plays mp3 files fine. Thx for the help in Advance

What DVD player software? What sound card?

I have no sound card (onboard audio on my mobo) and im using windows media player.
