my friend wants to network another computer to his he has a 56k modem.i want to use a crossover cable and use ics.my question would be what kind of second card do i install in his computer to run the crossover cable to the second second computer
thanks in advance.
You would need a NIC (network interface card). Just a regular network card with RJ-45 jack.
and you would need the same (not exactly the same, but also a NIC) in the second computer to which you connect the other end of the cross-over cable.
So you got 2 computers both with NICs, connected by a cross-over cable.
But be careful, sharing a 56k might not be worth it...

you might be surprised...i saw 2 computers hooked up this way before with both people on the internet (not gaming or doing anything high-bandwidth) and it was faster than i thought it'd be
