I have about 5 dos-based games that Win ME just wouldn't play.
So after I got XP running I decided WTF I'll try it and they all play with no problems. I thought dos bases games woudn't play on Win2k??
they do with the dos emulator it has but there is no real dos on the nt4 format.
ME has no dos or emulator.

Right, but ME has the same Kernel as Win98, and no dos wich is stupid.
I just didn't realize that NT had a dos emulator. So Win2K would be the same way right?

Win2k has a dos emulator. Hope the winXP one is a little more versatile then win2k's.

Versatile how?
It has worked great for me so far. All last night for hours I was playing dos games. No problems yet...

I have a friend that has a DOS based game that runs fine in win98se, In win2k it locks the machine. even when set for no sound. Unless I am compleatly blind there isn't much tweaking to be done on the emulator. He could run it in dos but their is no dos drivers for most of his eguipment(videocard, soundcard ect.). If M$ tweaks the emulator just a little some of our older games might just be playable to some extent.

I see. I haven't used Win2K very much, and have never played a game, so I'm not much help on that. But in XP I didn't have to set anything up, it was ready to go when I installed the game.
