my computer is connected to a network and then to the internet via dsl modem. how do i configure remote desktop to access my computer since my computer does not have a unique ipaddress, only the modem does.

Thanks

your computer is probably connected through a router. If you are not the admin, you'll need someone to forward the ports required to connect to your PC.

i am an admin, i just dont what what ports to forward
what range should i put, or how do i find out

You will forward 3389 to the computer that you want to use remote desktop on. Then to connect just use the Remote Desktop client to connect to your public IP address, no need to put the port number.
