ok, i have the option to use one of 2 PSU's, an Xblade 450watt or an Orion 420watt. the rails are as follows

Xblade
+3.3v 26A
+5v 30A
+12v 20A

Orion
+3.3v 35A
+5v 36A
+12v 17A

i'm not sure witch one is better.... the orion has better overall rails but the xblade has a better +12 rating than the orion.

I would say which ever one is cheaper :-P

Have you found any reviews or user comments about those two PSU?

The reason I ask is because the amperage ratings are about useless for
judging PSU quality & durability.

A big beefy 45 amp rating on the 12v rail might seem great However, it
won't do you any good if it is not stable.

Quality over Quantity! :attn:

grrr, can't find any reviews.... both came from differnt cases

the xblade looks alot better, my friend that i got it from used it to OC his xp3000 to 2.7GHz. the orion i got from another friend who replaced it with an antec 550 watt for his A64 system. so i've been useing the Orion for longer but it looks like the Xblade might be an overall better PSU. anyone has some insight on either of these psu's?

Well, did a quick search and I can't find any reviews of that Xblade case/PSU.
Did find a few of the Orion 400w and none gave performance of the PSU except
to say "it remained within spec". Not much to go on there.

I don't know ... depends what your needs are. Personally, for my OCing
set up PSU quality is all important. There is a lot to be said for having a
five year total warranty. And a unit that has good overvoltage and overcurrent
protection. Many cheaper PSU will take out the entire system if there is a problem.

Not trying to scare you, only want to help you get the most for your money.

Not sure about the XBlade yet, but the Orion is a HEC/Compucase unit, which is one of the better OEM's around. Still digging for a UL file number on the Xblade unit.

Edit - I got Sun Pro as the OEM on the Xblade... no idea how good they are.

Edit 2 - It seems A-Top is pulling a Rosewill... I've seen some of their 450w units turning up as our old enemy Deer. Unless we can verify the OEM of the XBlade in question, I'm going to have to recommend the Orion. To see who made it, look for the backwards UR symbol and enter the number below it here:

Leave it to OK Wolf to cut through the red tape.

Up to you, but just FYI if it is a Deer, instability might be the least of your problems; as my old 45gb Western Digital will attest to. I had to RMA it 3 times thanks to Deer.
