View Full Version : New GeForce3 can't get 3dmark 2001 to work
I just bought a Visiontek geforce3. It installs fine boots fine, but when I try to run 3dm2k1 it crashes after the second game and gives me an error "can't initialize 3d graphics device" " Error out of memory"
I installed the 21.81 drivers right off the bat. WTF is wrong, is this card bad?

Did you try reinstalling 3DMarks 2k1? It might still be trying to initialize your old Radeon drivers or something? Just a suggestion you have a good system I can't figure out why it would be doing that...
great temps by the way!!!!

i am having the same error, i have a geforce 2 mx 400 64 megs sdram and i noticed you are running win2k
so am i , used to work fine with win 98 but, i think it has something to do with some drivers or direct x with win2k
been racking my head all day on this one.

i did notice that the detonator drivers are non-whql certified
maybe it has something to do with that and win2k pro
dogman , does it run like through the trucks then gets to the dragon and dumps to that error msg?
Thats exactly what happens. It runs the 2 truck demos, then craps out. Works fine with 12.90 drivers:confused:
Seems to be a somewhat common problem.
Here is a thread about it.

well i just figured it out, i have my detonator xp drivers running and i ran 2dmark 2001 with no problems
just go through and remove ANY file that even mentions the word nvidia in it . i even cleaned out the registry, restarted and the reinstalled the detonator drivers, yah its a pain but for me it was better than a format.
