Hello,

I clocked my CPU (p4 3.0HT to 3.6Ghz) but if i go higher my pc wont load windows, , can i clock further? Here do you have my specs:

P4 HT 3.0Ghz @ 3.6
1024MB ram
p4p800-e deluxe
ati 9800 Pro

Temp: 38 Idle, 46 Full loaded.

Is it good if i clock further 'cuz now my pc is very stable,

Thank You, FiXeR.
(sorry for my bad english :( )

did you lock your PCI frequency to 33/66/100?

if you have DDR400, are you currently running 1:1 FSB to RAM? (try 5:4 ratio - set memory clock to 320mhz in bios)

have you tried looser RAM timings?

what is your vcore voltage set to?

what HSF/cooling do you have on your CPU?

that'll help us rule out why you can't clock higher, but if you're on air cooling, thats about your limit to OC to (3.6)

Ya try the ram divider and also what stepping is the 3.0?

Hmm, my ram timings are normal, not changed, and its 1:1, but if i try 5:4 then i wont clock more,
I have a p4 3.0Ghz prescott @ 3.6Ghz air
, i donno more info,
but if i try 5:4 on 3.75 ghz, it shows my boot screen, after 3 stripes it stoppes.

Thanx, FiXeR.nl

---EDIT---

Where can i see the ram timers and dividers in bios?

What sort of Ram do you have and how good is your PSU because they can hold you back. That is still a good OC, I would be happier with that than the one I have. :temper:

Hmm, my ram is pc3200 1024MB 2x512 from jetram :-/
My PSU is ok, its 400w, from zalman, db400 or something, ;)

That is still a good OC on air cooling and your temps are good for a prescott. My northwood 3.0 hits 3.5GHz at 1:1 and 3.74Ghz at 5:4.
Jetram memory is value priced but I do not know how good it is for overclocking. I am thinking of switching out my Mushkin to get a better 1:1 clock since 233 fsb is all it can do.
Sounds like there is still a lot of tweaking you can do (voltage, timing, PAT, etc.) before looking at better RAM.

Ok, TY, but what timing is ok for better overclocking?

Nope. i didn't. Is that good, or not good?

:) Thank you

new ram and a new PSU could definitely help... especially the PSU, as your PSU is the backbone of any stable overclocked system

also, don't push it so far at one time - raise the FSB 1 mhz at a time, checking for stability with prime 95 for 30 minutes after every raise in FSB (sounds tedious, but it makes sure its rock solid @ that OC)

i seriously doubt you'll get more than 3.6 stable on air right now (i still wanna know what HSF you have)

Don't know why no one has mentioned this yet, but what voltage are you using? Give it a bump in vcore and see if that nets you any gain. Also the other suggestions (5:4, lock pci/agp ect).

My 3.0e hit a wall at 241 fsb.
Might try again later as i have got new ram and psu.

what PSU do you have jenko? RAM shouldnt matter that much as long as you're using a divider with it

The new coolermaster real power 450watt ACLY seems a great psu for £50.

Well I got a 3.0 DO. When I still got the Kingston value ram, I only can get to 3.6 maxed on stock HS. After I changed the ram with ADATA hyperram with SP-94 HS, I maxed out at 3.9 GHZ. All this is powered by a generic 350W PSU that came with my case. I just got a Sparkle FSP400 PSU. I will try to see if I can hit 4.0 GHZ. So before my ram is my bottle neck and stock HS. Just try and tested out all the advices that the guys gave before getting new rams. Good luck and have fun.
