Gathering up parts for the latest greatest rig.
Have my NCCH mobo, 1GB PC3500, AntecTPS550 w/adapter, 6800GT, Raptors.

Im ready to buy the Xeons....
I've been reading up on the stickys and other posts about 1.6 D1's and 2.4's \533fsb . Tempting.......however
Now, what about these Nonconas: 2.8hz\ 800fsb\ 1mb cache?
$215.00 each ( Pricewatch)

What kind of overclock can I get with these? Is it worth the extra cash for the 1mb cache?
Should I stay with the 2.4hx\533fsb for less money?

these chips are not faster than prestonia chips on most programs...with the exception of 64 bit software...noconas are the only xeons that will work with 64 bit OS's and software

they may overclock to 3.2ghz or so...but they are not worth the money, unless you need 64 bit processors...

for 32 bit OS's, the best buy right now are the 1.6ghz LV xeons that overclock to 3+ghz with the pin mod for 1.6v...

i have a pair now that are doing 3.15ghz 100% 4xprime95 stable...

not bad for $100...see the ebay user lapcompute sales...

if you need more speed, then try to get some 2.4ghz M0 stepping of 2.4ghz LV D1 stepping xeons...they'll likely do 3.4-3.6ghz...for $300+
