Optical mouse goes out

I've got a Microsoft Optical Mouse. For about the past month, it'll just go out at random times. It does it every time I use the computer but it usually comes back on in 3-15 seconds. However, about once a day, it doesn't come back on, forcing me to reboot. Anyone know what the problem is?

ya got a short in the cable. most probably your power lead. not sure which end, but i'm guessing the one that goes into the butt/head end of your mouse.

Is there anything I can do to fix the problem, besides get a new mouse?

well u need a skillful hand to check the wires out and be able to build it back as it was, but i think u shud better get a new 1

I believe this is the same problem many others have with these microsoft opticals, i'm not sure if you could fix it yourself, it might be hard to find the problem.

You can get a new 4 button MS mouse for $15 Canadian, or a Logitech for $14....
Might not even be worth your while to try to fix it.
