Ok, I wanted to take out the fan grills on my Antec Lanboy. Problem is I don't have a pair of tin snips nor a dremel. Normally i'd go out and buy a pair, but I've got pnuemonia and the medicine they got me on makes me... Can't really explain it, but lets just say, doc told me in no unspecific terms not to drive. So, what else can I use? I have tons of assorted pliers, couple differnt saws, bout 30 drills, and alot of other common tools... So any ideas on what else I could use, that wouldn't totally deface my case? Thanks

You can use a set of cutting pliers (http://www.sears.com/sr/javasr/product.do?BV_UseBVCookie=Yes&vertical=TOOL&pid=00945077000&subcat=Pliers) would just have to take a file to clean it up a bit. Thats what I used to do a few things to my Lian Li case til I bought another dremel.

After you cut out the grills with the snips. Clean up the jagged bent edges with one of these and then take a file to break the sharp edges of your cutout. I have used this tool to do the entire job before if you want to save a few buck on the snips and/or "Dykes" Diagonal Cutting pliers.

I think the most useful tool here might just be common sense.
If you are unable to drive are you really wanting to attack your case?
Maybe wait a week and do the mod when you are up to snuff ( and can acquire the proper tools).

Sheesh....I sound like a schoolmarm.

Edit:
I second the use of nibblers.
My tool of choice.
Slow? Maybe, but it's hard to castastrophically screw up when you're moving at about 1"/5 min.
Besides, you get to spend some quality time with your case.

Nah it ended up working VERY nicely. And boy you should see my case (Antec Lanboy btw), folded all the cables under mobo, hid the hdd, took off the little lip that the removeable hdd rack sits on, braided and taped and hid all other cords (fan connection, front panel connections, etc), hid all the power cords (you can only now see the video card power cord. thats actually the only cable/cord/wiring that you can see). If I had a digital camera, i think people would be pretty pleased with my work!

Cut off wheel & Carbide rotary file. If you can use it in an air tool, even better.
Then use a couple files to clean up the edges.

The above three holes (didn't save big scrap piece) took about 10 minutes.
Minus time to change bits, put on another CD, and grab a snack etc .... ;)
