Hey, I am wandering if anyone knows how in the hellaruiny do I overclock my etower? I know I can, there has to be a way. I downloaded CPUCooL, and CPUFsb, and even FsbCooL, and none of them had my motherboard on them, and there are no settings in the bios, so I have to set it manually with Jumpers. However, there is NO instruction booklet for this emachines ANYWHERE. there is only a small jumper guide on the inside of the case, which explains all the settings of jumpers, except for one. J10, it doesn' say what it does. And beside the J10 jumper there are all these other jumper settings that are not on the chart and don't have any jumper caps on them. Does anyone know how I would goabout overclocking this one? If so, then PLEASE help me out, because a 66 mhz fsb is just too slow, thanks!

If you like ur computer then leave it alone. If you wanna forge ahead and can live without that computer see what the j10 does.

I did try the J10, and nothing happened, at least not to my knowledge. So I just put it back. I don't know if it did anything at all.
LOL, you are screwed!!! i had an Emachines and the only way that I was able to OC it, was to buy a new case, mobo, power supply, video card, and sound card. I then was able to OC the processor out of the Emaheap. Sorry, i ventured down the same avenue that you are now, and I found no way to OC the Emacheap. I do have to say that if you just put in a descent PCI slot video card in that, those computers will run soooo much better. I had a Voodoo 3 3000, and the Emachines 500is that I had ran really well with it. Another thing...word of advice. Get a good case fan in that thing and it will last a lot longer, the one that I had didnt have any fans in it at all. There wasnt even a mounting bracket for one in the case. What I did was drill a 2 5/8 hole in the side of the case and mount a 4 in. fan to the side blowing in and then the comp ran a lot more stabile. Good luck, and as far as I could find out with mine, there is no way to OC that beast.:(

Some are boarderline obsolete technologywise. To try to overclock them (we all know that the cpu is not the only the affected by overclocking) is asking for trouble. Not as much trouble as playing with no name jumpers though. CUT THAT OUT!!

lol. I don't think I'm screwed at all, I CAN'T BE!!!! NOOOO!!!!!! :) Well anyway, you see, I whent back to CPUCooL to check if I could overclock it even though it didn't have my motherboard on there. And so I look under the PLL manufacture, and it had mine, so I looked for the one I had, and it had it too!! So I tried it, and I overclocked it!! I could get it up to 800 mhz, BUT (yeah, there is always a but :( )My sound wouldn't work att 800 mhz, and my computer wouldn't restart, so I tried the next one down, and my sound still wouldn't work, but my computer did restart. Well anyway, I got it up to 800, so there has to be a way to do that with jumpers, or at least I hope there is. I don't want to give up on this, I have got to get my computer running a little faster untill I get enough money to build me a monster :)

lol !
Well, I haven't OC'ed an eMachines, but I have with a Compaq and an HP (BTW, the HP was socket 370). The compaq with the jumpers (I found no program to tweak it !), and the HP with CPUFSB. Only thing I needed was a voltage increase, which, lucky me !!!, HP had cut off ! Only default voltage would work. So there must be a way to tweak your machine. THERE MUST BE A WAY !!!!!!
EDIT : just found this info on the emachines Website (about the mobo they use) :
eTower 700, 667ir, 700irx, 766id, eMonster 800, 1000b
Anaheim 3 Micro ATX (ATX V1.2 form factor) motherboard, TriGem, Korea Intel Socket-370 (370pin PPGA Socket) for Intel FC-PGA Celeron CPUs Integrating on-chip Graphics controller and Memory Controller Hub (GMCH): Intel FW82810, as well as Intel I/O Controller Hub (ICH) and AC 97' CODEC: Intel FW82801 onto the motherboard eliminates the need for more expensive graphic and audio add-in cards.
