Is there anyway to get the serial number off the CPU once it is installed? Maybe a software programs or something? I found a program called CPUID but it only tells me that the CPU is family: 6 Model: 4 Step:4. Anybody?

I don't think they have an option to get the # other than actually looking at the CPU.

Yeah I'm pretty sure that looking at the actual core is the only way to find out.

I am positive the only way is to pop the H/S off.

I know how it feels to break valuables just for the sake of checking but it's something you have to go thru. Relax & try again when you got enough money to buy whatever breaks;)
