So I finally decided that I need more ram for laptop about 1GB, I looked at newegg prices and found pqi 3200 512mb for $75, so two sticks will run me about $150, one 1gb stick cost more than 2x512=1gb, or Kingmax pc2700, any other suggestions

another thing is if my laptop is running pc2700 and I get pc3200 will it work, I know desktop wouldn't have any problems with it but for a laptop dunno.

Very good question. I know from experience my old Presario balks with PC133 (it runs PC100). So backwards compatability is something to be very aware of. The dang old Compaq of mine even turned it's nose up at a stick of PC100, too... Finicky PITA...

I'd do some heavy "googling" before plunking down any hard earned cash. Also, check out notebookforums.com, and see if anyone has asked the same question for your model there too.

I have the gig kit of Kingmax pc2700 in my Dell i8600. It works well but the timings aren't as rated. It does 3-3-3 in my lappie where it is rated at 2-2-4 or something like that. Not that I care because it was such a good price. I love having a gig when it comes to gaming. Not sure on the speed thing, you'd have to check that out. Does it really matter if you aren't going to overclock it though? Just buy the ram it's rated for to make it easy on yourself.

WHen I upgraded my laptop memory I was lazy and didn't want to deal with possibly getting the wrong RAM b/c I was using it for an overseas trip so I just got a 512Mb stick from crucial. I spent about $5~10 more than newegg but never had a problem.

well I contacted manufacter and was told nothing specific.

we don't know, it supports pc2700

I won't mess around so I got a 1gb of pc2700, this really need upgrade since my phisical memory was dropping to 60mb and page file was going high with 512mb of ram

My idea behind pc 3200 was that if I would get pc3200, then when it would ran at speeds of pc2700 it would have better timings.
