does the folding@home software take up memory resources? i wanna do it and i think its a great cause. but i can't have it slow down my comp
I haven't noticed any problems from the folding client. It uses idle resources only and hasn't slowed my system down at all. I have not tried playing games while folding but that would probably be the only time I would stop the folding client given the way directx hijacks the system.

it slows down your boot time and yes, it will take some memory up as any open app will, but I have noticed no system performance decrease running it in anything.
On my windows 2k machine it is using about 4mb of ram. not bad considering my icq is using 13mb and outlook is using 10mb.
Like the others I haven't noticed any slowdown on my system from running the fah client.

I notice no slowdown even when playing games..... the idle priority thing seems to work pretty well.
Now if you screw with fah's priority.....
