If I buy Windows XP Home Edition, to be legal, do I need a copy for each of my computers ? And if I only have one copy, that I installed on both of my comps, does the activation thing tells microsoft that the same copy is used more than once ?
You'll have to check w/ Microsoft on that one. I think you'll be able to do multiple installs, but if you can, you won't be able to do many. Microsoft is DAMN stingy w/ its products :)
From what I was told at a Microsoft roadshow by one of the XP reps was that they will allow you to install it on 1 desktop unit and 1 laptop. but that was 4 months ago so it could have changed

Only one, period, this is what is making us mad about this fine OS. 3 computers=3 copies of XP.
Now what if... say one person owns two computers, and he's the only user, so obviously only one copy of windows will be used at one given time. Is this scenario covered by the M$ agreement? And would the person have to purchase two copies?

I think Microsoft says you'd still have to buy 2 copies.
