Ok, when i OC'd my 3.2 prescot to 3.5 (200*16) all was right in the kingdom, ram all the apps i could run at a lan party without any lag, and made a great server that i could play on at the same time.(UT2K4) :burn:

But then the story gets worse. I got home and began to stress test things and i got some problems. ass soon as i run seti or a prime 95 stress test, i hear faint beeping over the XP-90 white noise, and discovered that the sound was coming from the motherboard. Naturaly i dod the sain thing and continued the stress test and opened up another app, the 'abit eq' self monitoring software.

once there i found that my 12v was close to 11v, and that the alert was going off on the 3.3v line which dipped to about 3.02 once every 5 - 10 seconds. when i saw that i thought it would be prudent to shut down the stressing software, and get a second oppinion.

what should i do? would slaping some sinks on the mosfets help? or should i think about finding another PSU, from a realy good mfg?

*see sig for details on the rig*

I need to go to more lans, so i can make more $$$ before i can fix this... i gues ill need to take it down till its prime stable, that way i wont have to worry about it.

but what PSU do people recomend? needs to be in the 500W range, and if i am replacing, more is better... i hate to take steps backward.

for instance, if i add a better video card and more HDD's is it a good idea to look towards things like the fortron 530?

not prizes, i sell bawls for profit because i have a car and can find comp usa, i also get contracts to modd, upgrade, make, or fix other peoples rigs... this weekend i got $52 and a 8 gig HDD

its like having a job on the side that supports your hobby, i find it great.

fortron or antec, post for a few hours straight so you can get in the classifieds and get a good deal. otherwise, check out newegg. I would go with a 500 just bc then u don't have to worry about it for a long.. long long.... long time :) perhaps a 20 to 24 pin adapter, but not a new psu. good luck and i've gotta get in the lan party scene around here, my friends crappy computers are all becoming good ones............

Fortron AX500 Blue Storm is recommended over the 530. You could also go with ocz, but they are about 140 bucks for 520w model. I'd go with the Blue Storm.

Is this beeping very high pitched? If it is then you're hearing something called coil whine and it can be muted by pouring wax over the coils on the motherboard. If your 3.3V rail is that low, though, then I would replace your PSU. Check the 3.3V rail with a multimeter if you have one, and also check it through the BIOS.
