View Full Version : Games reset vid card OC, Help Please
I have a Abit 9600xt 256mb w/vivo, and I am using the new Omega 2.6.05a drivers. I use Radlinker to set my clock speed. Whenever I start a 3D game (HL2, UT2003, Halo) my clock speeds get set back to default(500/300). I don't ever have to actually play the game, just start it. :bang head Is this a driver issue? Has anyone ever heard of this before. I have only had this card for about 2 months, and I have just got into OC'in it. You can see my system in my sig. Someone please help me .

Um im not really wise in Drivers but im willing to save the mods life, Try ATI TOOL and see what happends
the mod thanks you for sparing his life.
This problem happens no matter if I use ATItool or Radlinker. I haven't tried powerstrip yet, but I don't think it will matter.

it may sound dumb but Have you clicked Apply?

umm..... I don't think that I have ever been asked that before. Yes I clicked apply, and It wasn't that bad of a question. I even closed out everything, went back opened up radlinker and verified my clocks. And they are set at 530\320. I play some HL2, go back and its at 500/300.
I haven't messed with radlinker, but isn't that the program which you set up individual game profiles for? If so, it may be applying your video card defaults (ie: stock clocks) when you open a game that you don't specifically have a profile for. I'd make sure that you've got overclocked profiles set up for the games in question.
[...that is, assuming that radlinker is the program I'm thinking of...]

This is the Radlinker (http://www28.brinkster.com/chrisww1942/) I was talking about, It comes wih the omega drivers. Yeah, I set up the profiles. made sure my clock speeds were set in them and still the same thing. What program do you use?

Have you tried using the Catalyst drivers instead of the Omegas? The Omegas are usually good drivers, but may be causing your problem. Also you can try reinstalling the Omega drivers. Just uninstall it, and use Drive Cleaner to get rid of anything the uninstall left behind. That way you can do a clean reinstall of the drivers.
OK, I uninstalled the omega's, Reinstalled the new cats 5.2. completely uninstalled radlinker to. Now just using ATItool. Same thing happens.
Oh I forgot to mention, this card is a refurb from Newegg. That might be my problem. :temper:

I could also be that. Do you have a spare graphics card to test out? You might need to RMA the card back.
No I sold my spare.:( I Only think that newegg gives 15 days to RMA their refurbs, and I have had it for 2 months. Oh well, It looks Like I am stuck with an non OC'ed card.

what about if you try something like 3dmark? is it doing this only on games/HL2, or any 3D app?

yep, same thing I think on every 3d program.
I got it fixed. I updated to the cat 5.3 drivers and switched to rivatuner. problem solved.
