Can anyone suggest what they recommend for AV software, I was running Innoculate and was happy with the fact it never bogged me down, I wasnt to happy that I got Nimda from an infected website the same day I updated InocculateIt.....

Thank you in advance for any replies.....I have a fairly fast system and have Mcafee on it now but it seems to be slowing me down.

I'm running Norton AV. It seems alright.

I use Norton AV, and it had found Nimda before I even updated.

A Friend swears by AVG which is freeware, I'll try and find a link for you.

Look into PC-Cillin, I use it extensively. Love it, and don't have to pay for program upgrades.

Kingslayer, how have you found PC-Cillin? I used it for a while and found that it conflicted with some programs/games. One example being seti screen saver.

The only bad experience I have had with PC-Cillin is that it won't install on dual CPU machines. If you yank a CPU and install it, then reboot, shut down and install the 2nd CPU back in, it will run fine. I haven't seen any conflicts with any games or programs. I don't run seti so I wouldn't know if there is a conflict there or not.

I have talked with the programming team (how many companies will let you talk to their programming team?) about the dual CPU issue, and at the time of production of PC-Cillin 2000 they didn't have a dual cpu machine to test on (at least they were honest). They do plan on fixing this issue with their next version.

You don't have to pay for upgrades. If you buy PC-Cillin 2000 and PC-Cillin 2001 comes out tomorrow, you don't pay for it. You download the new version and it will ask for you old serial number to verify (so register it if you buy it) and your off.

Other than that it has a small resource footprint, runs well, and can kill some virii that the big hitters can't do squat with. Their first level tech support sucks, but if you get elevated to the next level, you will have someone call you and they usually do it with in half an hour.

I suggest AVG 6.0 it's good and the important thing is it's free and has free updates

I have some old version of McAfee, runs well (when I run it, which means NEVER), came with my comp, so I didn't buy one. EVER !
