Mini stereo, commonly referred to as "headphone jack" cables can be found anywhere, and for very little money. They have no shielding, or anti interfearance wrapping of any sort.

Anbody know where I could pick up a high quality mini stereo cable to hook my soundcard up to my speakers?

Don't say Monster cables, they don't make mini stereo cables (Too bad...:()

not sure what ur asking, but i have my sound card running to my stereo, in stereo mode not mono! I used a stereo splitter and then just ran RCA cables into my video/aux in the back of my stereo.
1 male plug to sound card in and 2 female connects left over to put male RCA into

1/4 inch plug to dual RCA out,at radio shack

just use gold plated mini 3.5mm jack --> RCA lines.....or get a soundcard with optical out if your speakers have optical in

i am assuming it's a stero or mini-hifi?

So you guys think I should get a mini stereo-to-RCA converter, run RCA cables to my woofer, then another mini stereo-to-RCA converter?

To ease up any confusion, this is a mini stereo connector. This particular model happens to be a 90º, but most are straight. Just your standard, everyday, run-of-the-mill 3.5mm stereo headphone jack.

yeah, if they have 2 plastic rings, that means "Stereo" or 2 channel, if they have 1 plastic ring it means it is "Mono", or 1 channel. Get some Gold plated ones (<$5), a good thing to remember is that audio/power cables don't mix, so try and keep them as far away from easch other as possible to keep unwanted noise to a minimum.

Not nescessarily. A stereo plug can be wired for mono, just by bridging the two +leads. What you stated above, as a general rule, would be correct though. The best place to pick up some really good quality plugs and cable is at a music instument shop. If they carry recording equipment, even better. And yes, gold plating makes all the difference in the world.

okay... then lets just say that "Stereo does not exist", it is just a Mono signal "split" into pseudo right/left channels. It was called "Hi-Fidelity/Polymorphic" sound when it was introduced by record companies back in the days, 50's or 60's... before my time for sure. This way we can both be right... huh Crystal

*if you want a good mini-plug, look for one that has Kevlar jackets, and 24K leads.

24k gold is the only way to go for quality...

I just got this idea from reading the thread....

You said that mini stereo cables are non-sheilded.... I know this, but is there a way you COULD sheild them? I'm sure that sheilding them would allow for better quality (less static and less picked up from another wire).

I was thinking mabey using some metal tape or something, and them grounding it to your case (or whrerever a good ground is availible). You could wrap the tape around the outside of the cable, and then get rid of the adhisive at a spot and stick a wire running to your case to it.

This could also work for RCA cables.....
Anyone have any comments?

i am using a setup of a panasonic mini md stero with 4 treble and 4 bass

i hooked it up with my soundcard's optical out and front speaker out due to my card being a 5.1
