unloading my rig from the car and the trip
i put my computer on the hood ( bonnet )
turned to put my coffee down on the roof, because i thought i could carry both
looked back to see my computer sliding off the front corner
slow motion kicks in and i watch as it smashes on the pavement
door comes off and my external pump and heater core take the full weight
i roll up to the vehical to inspect the damage/carnage
no leaking or hanging parts... ok, lets plug her in

all was well, except lately a weird rattle in the hdd is audible when its being accessed... it does seem a little slow too... but that could be the os or something ( reformat time maybe :)... anyone with damaged hdd experience?

yea id back up all your data asap. the hard drive is really the only critical piece of hardware other than the cpu fan with moving parts. its better to be safe than sorry.. ive gone 3 years (when i got my first computer above 200mhz) without loosing all of my data. clicking and sounds are a sure sign that your drive may be dying.
