Hi
i am looking for a PSU that has the following features:\
Around 500WATTS +-
24PIN ATX & P4 connector
Adjustable pots ( Internal is fine)
Low noise ( not too important)
I saw the Forton 530 has adjustable pots - but unfortunately it is 20 Pin. OZC has one with adjustable pots externally which is a strong contender - but at $150 it's a bit pricey
Thanks for any input

EASY EASY question.
FSP Group AX500-A Blue Storm. Wonderful PSU and very aggressively priced.

$89shipped. Best current price I believe and these guys are reliable though the shipping is a bit slow.

Mine gets here tomorrow. Newegg also has them for $89 +$7 shipping and if you're not in a hurry eWiz HAD them for $71 +shipping, but they've been out for awhile now.
FSP group = Fortron/Sparkle BTW in case you were unaware.

Oh yeah. Most definately adjustable. In fact if you run a search here you'll find a thread detailing the adjustment process complete with pix. I believe it was done on a 530w but the pots are the same. Look the same as my FSP400 too. There's one pot for 3.3v and another for 12v/5v as I recall.

the other option is the OCZ PowerStream

He mentioned OCZ, and they sell fine units, but they don't build them and it tends to increase overhead. I'd take the FSP unit and pocket the difference. These two units are pretty evenly matched though and they're endlessly compared. If they were the same price I'd say flip a coin. :)

How about dual rail PSUs? They are quite important if you wanna o/c stabily
i'm gonna chime in my .02 for the OCZ Powerstream 520w
the fortron blue storms (500w) are also very nice units, and less costly than the OCZ's

This is the principal difference between the two units. The OCZ 520w has a single 12v rail rated at 33A, while the FSP AX500-A has dual 12v rails rated at 15A each. Dual 12v rails are called for in the ATX2.0 specification, but they're not a requirement. Frankly I'd just take whichever of the two units you can find cheapest. That just happens to be the Fortron unit in nearly every instance.

Correct me if I am wrong, but the Fortron Blue Storm is NOT adjustable. Otherwise, it would make for a great fit.

On the contrary good sir. The AX500-A most definately has adjustable rails.

"We then took it a step further, and decided to look a little further into why Fortron Source PSU's are so good. A simple web search gave us all kinds of wonderful ideas, and since we were right at the borderline of our system's max we wanted to tweak just a bit more. One of the best things that I have heard about Fortron Source PSU's is that all you have to do is crack 'em open and adjust the pots inside for a little more 3.3v, 5v, and 12v line voltage. Much like other adjustable PSU's, the Blue Storm was so simple to turn up that all we had to do was crack it open, hook up a voltmeter, and adjust the pots that had an impact on our system voltages. Since the Blue Storm already had decent 3.3v, 5v, and 12v rails (3.34v, 4.97v, 11.94v) under load, we decided not to turn the pots to far, but to reach a happy medium that would yield us just a few more amp's for our overclocking endeavors. We ended up with 3.47v, 5.6v, and 12.74 before we got a little timid with a metal screwdriver inside a running power supply."

Anytime bro. I'd be far less interested in it too were it lacking adjustable rails. As it stands I think it's a bargain at $90ish.
SilverStone's ST52F seems to fit all your requirements too:

I hear it is very similar to the OCZ Powerstream 520w, and has same +12V amps. I got the 420W off that site, it is gonna be here friday. Also, coupon code "monkeybargains10" (without the " ) gets you $10 off of orders over $100. That $101 for a PSU that is VERY similar to the OCZ Powerstream 520W.

Thanks so much for all the input. I decided to go with the FSP Group AX500-A Blue Storm. At this price it seemed to fit the bill perfectly.
Cheers
Mike
