Ok I know most people say it can't be done but I've heard people say that it can..JUst havn't seen how(If it is realy possable)Trouble is i can't get games to work right on win2k and im sick of fussing with it!! So you say why not duel boot??Well reason being is that if you take away the file security and some of its stablity by useing Fat32 what's the sence of even useing Win2K??? I'm pulling my hair out over here Any suggetions??:(

I've got a dual boot on my system, ive got 2 main partions one with win98se on fat32, and one with ntfs and win2k.

I only use win98se for progs that do not run under win2k, but still have the extra security of ntfs for all my files.

Win95/98/me can not see or be installed on ntfs.

Can you explain how to do this I'd realy appretiate it :D(I'll be useing partition magic)

I’ve never used Partion magic, always used fdisk, so I’ll explain using that.

You need a win95/98 boot disk with fdisk.exe on it.

1. Boot to the floopy disk.
2. Type ‘FDISK’
3. Say yes when it ask’s if you want large disk support.
4. select option 1 ‘Create DOS partition or Logical DOS Drive’
5. select option 1 ‘Create Primary DOS Partition’
6. You then need to enter the size of partion you want, on my 30gb drive I gave 98 5gb.
7. Once fdisk has finished key pressing [ESC] until you get back to the dos prompt.
8. restart the machine, again booting to the floppy
9. type ‘FORMAT C:
10. Once it has formatted the c: partion restart and install win98.
11. Once you have installed 98, restart the machine and using the 2k floppys or cd install win2k.
12. When asked where to put 2k, tell it to use what the rest of the un-partioned space in ntfs format.

Hope this helps, tried to keep it short but to the point.

By the way, formating under NTFS take even longer than FAT32, sorry about the bad news. I personally think it is worth the wait.

Will the system still dual boot with a partition and NTFS/ Fat32?

I've got two systems running like this. As long as you install win98 first.

Tried that install couldn't repair, thanks anyway. I've spend most of the day reinstalling every thing.
