View Full Version : 6600GT vs 9800XT?
I dont know much about the graphics scene with all the new pci express cards out now, so wondered how the 6600gt compaired to the 9800XT, and its possibilities for overclocking (bios flashing to ultra and son on if possible)

6600GT is considerably faster and bears alot of new features with video playback that the 9800XT lacks. In addition the 6600GT draws less power.

knew the 6600 was a clear winner of 9800PRO's - and a 9800XT s only about %10 faster. so i would go for a 6600 if u have the choice.

defintaly go with the 6600gt... i could probably hit 9k in 3dmark03 with mine if i get some better ram. Can't say that about a 9800xt :)

Just depends on what you game most...if gaming with older games...keep your Pro

Just depends on what you game most...if gaming with older games...get a 9800 Pro and flash it to a XT...and then save up for a PCI-E card and system later on in the year or next year...]

This is why I stated
DX 8 = 9800XT
DX 9 = 6600GT
Just depends on what you game most...if gaming with older games...keep your Pro

But anyways...Pro's are not that great in DX9's...not compaired to a 6600GT or such...but they will beat most 6800's in DX8 apps...

Exactly, it's what you had type in which may you had not relised what you said but you made it seem like an 9800Xt is not a Direct X 9 card in fact it is! :-/

9800 XT are totally crap in DX9...take it out...shoot it with a 12 gauge...or a glock with hollow points

Lol, use a 9800 if you're into DX8 games, or a 6600gt if you're heavier into DX9 ones...simple as that.
Edit: The gun imagery works too. :D

if you were thinking of getting a 9800XT, get a friggin 6800NU!! 9800XT's cost 300(last time i checked) and the 6800 just beats it by GALAXIES!

I think dollar for dollar at the moment a 6800NU is the BEST card dolllar for dollar when compaired amoung any 200 to 300 dollar card,matter of fact even cards costing 350.00 dont offer anything ya cant get from soft mods and overclocking the NU..

GDDR3 doesn't not come on 6800NU's.

Well when you get a phone call and have to be 600 miles one way for a funeral and then get there and have a uncle have a heart attack during the funeral and possible having to make another trip in a few days...

The 6800NU is a better card 100% a 6600Gt has 8 pipes so when ya take into account quality of the video come on guys get real..And 99% of the time no matter what ram the GT has it just cant keep pace with a 6800 thats plain and simple..
And I am being out scored by 1 6600Gt and would like to see a link to that score if ya have it ...Also you are running an A64 which should be a huge benifit to that Gt I would think and looking at the over clock on it I would say ya should beat me by something..If ya had my NU in that box it would beat your GT score for sure dont ya think ?

i dont know about 100% but its some better atleast, i have yet to experence any 6xxx cards in ym own system but at work i use alot....2 BFG 6800 GT OC's in UT is awsome

i hope you are not comparing ati and nvidia based on a comparison between ati's old generation card and nvidias new generation card. thats just not very intelligent.
Well, it's ATi's own fault for digging themselves into a hole by not releasing anything new and decent in the $150-200 price segment...sure...laptops get to have an 8 pipe R420 (more or less) but its not like AGP users get anything similar... a shame because ATi does really well with fewer pipelines. Just look at how well my X800Pro hangs with the 6800GT's.

Where is that Link to your 3d 03 score..I looked at future mark and everyone using a 6600GT that is getting about 10,000 3d 03 marks or Higher, is using SLI...I am dieing to see your link..
