Ok, I got a AMD 2600, some default horrible HP mobo, and a gb of ram with a ATI Radeon 9800.

Basically, im just changing my proc, however, im switchin stuff over from 1 case to the other and gettin a new mobo in the process.

My first question : Does everything work? Fit together?

Case : (Will use default fans and power supply ) http://www.newegg.com/app/viewProductDesc.asp?description=11-196-005&depa=0

Mobo : http://www.newegg.com/app/viewProductDesc.asp?description=13-186-037&depa=0

Processor : (Will use default heatsink) http://www.newegg.com/app/viewProductDesc.asp?description=13-186-037&depa=0

Next question, is there a hardware chain that will put this together for me? I just dont have time for a project like this. Ive heard of one or 2 but the names slipped from my mind.

Last question : Will installin a new mobo screw up my harddrive and windows? Best buy never gave me a XP install disc.

Like I said, newbie. Thanks in advance

well changing your motherboard, processor, and case is pretty much getting a new computer.

1. your processor link doesnt work

2. the motherboard looks nice, but i would go with a better brand like abit or asus.

3. the case isnt bad, but i would buy a new powersupply for the seemingly higher end motherboard

if you are looking for something already put together, you can either look for a "barebones" system, or you can find someone local who can put it together.

4. hp usually has a recovery partition on the harddrive. i have no idea how this will react to new hardware. you will probably need to at least do a repair install, but i dont know how you would do that without a disk.

Anyone know whether or not Best-Buy will throw it together for me and install windows XP (Bought my PC from there, think they'll install windows for free)

Gonna get a new harddrive while im at it I think..

The chances that your windows install will function are low, it can be done but if you dont want to spend the time putting this thing together then your not going to spend the time to get windows working after switching. At this point your better off building from scratch, save your memory, video card, harddrive, and just get a new case, mobo, cpu, and power supply. if you have to buy a windows upgrade disk or borrow a friends and use your cd code on the side of the HP box to do the install. As for getting some one to build it for you buy the time you pay for it its going to be cheaper for you to go buy a prebuilt computer at some local computer shop.

Yes they will.....for a price :-/ I'd reccomend it for a first timer but after that you ought to do your own maintence to cut down on costs.
