Dumping the GUI seti and installing the spy has cut my WU times by up to 10 hours!
GUI was giving me a 14-17hr cycle
SPY gives me 5-6hrs
Amazing....:D

Imagine if we could just get everyone on the overclockers.com team to use the client...we'd be ripping out numbers like you wouldn't believe!

Where can I get this 'spy' you speak of?
'spy' as he called it can be found at:
http://pages.tca.net/roelof/setispy
It is only of real use if you get the CLC version of SETI. It's still pretty neat with the GUI cuz you get to see more about your current WU.
Get the CLC if you want to speed up SETI. Spy is just an add-on. Someone here has the direct downloads for all your CLC seti needs....

Here are the direct downloads you need Windows CLC (ftp://alien.ssl.berkeley.edu/pub/setiathome-3.03.i386-winnt-cmdline.exe), Seti Spy (http://pages.tca.net/roelof/setispy/SetiSpy.exe), Seti Driver (http://www.wakeassoc.com/setidriver/SETIDriver.zip) and here are the instructions (http://overclockers.ws/seti/Instr1.htm) you need to follow to get them up and running.

spy rules! i went from 22hrs to just over 4hrs! i was wondering why my rig sucked....now i know why...gui. puts some confedence back into me about my computer! i thought i built it wrongly...lol!
glad to see you guys getting spy...works best when run with driver and clc and i think its a lot more interesting than the GUI anyway
just follow the directions...its easy
I had the GUI, but didn't watch the graphics at all. Well... mabey once every 2 months.... Too bad. Then I could say I droped my times by 10 hours or something. But since it wasn't ever displaying anything, I only shaved off 2 hours.
But 2 hours is still an improvement!

why is it that the USER STATs tab on SETI spy doesn't reflect my name? All entries shows unknown... is that normal?
Do this (http://pages.tca.net/roelof/setispy/faq.htm#faq2.17)

Nope. It a little problem that Berkeley had some time ago.
Someone manage to get many of the e-mail from the user of SETI, because each and every returned WU had its e-mail attached. THey changed it and that caused a little problem with the way that SETI SPy read the user information. This is just a work around that problem.
