What memory? You mean RAM, if thats the case then no.

So you want more memory without adding another stick of ram. ...ummm no. You could look at some ram optimizers like Freeram XP Pro (http://www.yourwaresolutions.com/software.html#framxpro). How much ram do you have now?

i currently have 256 mb of ram but im not very advanced with computers. and programs are just taking forever to load up and i was wondering if it was to do with the memory.

I am sure we can help you get the most out of what you have. But there are some things that we need to know.
1. What are you system specs? (motherboard, processor, ram)
2. Is it a pre-built computer like a dell or HP, or was it a custom build?
3. What programs are you having trouble with? (games, Photo programs, windows)

Here are a few things you can do
1. Defrag your hard drive.
2. Stop programs from starting up with windows.
3. Scan for spyware and viruses.

You do need more ram, but it also sounds like a spyware issue. Do you use a spyware program? If not I'd download one of the free ones like Spybpot Search & Destroy right away.

Spybot Search & Destroy - Spyware & Adware Removal tool (http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/index.html) They are both completely free and both are excellent programs. And don't forget to defrag. It is built into windows, and is under the system tools.

Spyware is not a virus and your anti virus program won't get it out. It basically takes over your system. You pick this stuff up on the internet and pretty soon your system slows to a crawl. Heres a link to the Spybot program.

Download it, get the updates and run it before you do anthing else. This is very important. It should make a big difference on your system.

I don't know anything. I just make this stuff up as I go along. LOL
That's good your running spybot. Let it get rid of all that stuff and inmunize as well. Let me know how you make out.

No, you need to give it permission to get rid of them. By all means do get rid of them.

Honestally I'd just get another stick of RAM. It really isnt that much when you get right down to it.

Its really not hard. I'd think another stick of 512MB bought from your local shops or off of newegg would be fine. Shouldnt be more than $100 to buy.

What motherboard is this?

Try this

and it is above the AGP slot:

Two black long thingies top right. You line up the pins and clip it in.

Well it IS SDram which is really damn slow. Overall you just need a new computer but getting more RAM is bound to help out.

Changing your HDD will do almsot nothing, however getting a new motherboard with faster RAM will help alot.

It all depends on what kinda price limit you have. Overall you just need a new PC
