View Full Version : yay for the RMA accu!
A few months ago the battery of my laptop (sig) broke somehow..it was a rather old one (early 2002) so i didnt expected to get anything RMA'd. Just for the fun i informed the manufacturer of the breakdown, and they actually told me that that kind of battery (new value: 150€ :eek: ) had three years of warranty :attn:
So yesterday i got a new one..same type, different mAh...they sent me a 4400mAh one instead of the 3200mAh one i had. I now have almost three hours of battery life, measured while running F@H!
on the old one i could do barely 2 hours while watching a dvd...this RMA deal rocks!

sorry, im just curious...what are maH? (obviously i understand its something electrical..) but more specifically? I didnt realize that different batteries could hold more life...i guess i always thought one size and the life depended entirely on the usage of the cpu + components.
thanks,

mAh = Milliamp hours.
A battery rated at 4400mAh can supply 4400mA (4.4A) for one hour, or 2.2A for 2 hours, or 1.1A for 4 hours etc.
So the less current the laptop draws, the longer the battery lasts.

Exactly. more mAh is always better :)
People usually forget to check that, even when buying simple AA batteries. There are those of 400, sometimes even 200 mAh, but for a digital camera you will want 1500, probably even 2400 mAh.

ps2cho think of it this way amps (or mA mili amp) are like a huge water tower, now some water towers can hold 1000 gallons but some can hold 1500g, 1500g usually cost more then the 1000g but you are able to get more glasses of water out of the 1500g tower... same thing for amps you are able to run your electronics longer...
Sjaak, make sure you check out what the voltage is on those battaries with 2400 mA as they will probably be 1.2 volts and some types of electronics need to have 1.5 volts even if it means they will not last as long...
hope that helps

Yup thats usual for the accu AA...1.2v..my cam runs on it :)

ya I got some nice 2500 mah AA batteries... the best thing is that they also 30 min rechargeable... I never actually use them though :rolleyes:
the dell xps laptop has like double mah because of the juice sucking 3.6ghz chip in there...
