This thread is a good one regarding Video card Heatsinks and how to affix them (http://forums.overclockers.ws/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=35853)

Without a doulbt the Alpha pal 15u is the best GPU heatsink mod you can do and you only lose one PCI slot, with a Blue orb you lose one pci slot as well (Blorb=15 mill height, Alpha Pal15u is 25 mill in height)

To be honest with you the Radeon GPU doesnt run hot enough to warrant the use of a Alpha pal 15u or a PIII heatsink, but a lapped Blue orb for $6.99 is probably your best alternative.

Just putting a 40mm fan onto the existing heatsink will help some. Go to the hardware store and find the right sized screws to fit the fan holes. The screws need to be long enough to run at least 1/2 to 3/4 of the way down into the cooling fins.

try bolting a case fan to the end of a card slot cover and dangle it over the GPU I did works well.

Here's a pic:

You can also attach the new 40 mill fan with silicone glue or Superglue, if you 'Stack' the new fan on the existing fan just use a few small washers or cut up a pencil eraser in 4 small slivers and glue them down in the corners to prop up the second stacked fan so there will be sufficient clearance.

thanks for the replys guys. I just ordered yesterday a blue orb from 1coolpc for $10, that sound high according to the above reply. but the shipping is cheap, only $1.50 (I also order a fan grill and filter, $3.50 shipping for all of them)
