Trouble installing Doom 3!!

Has anyone else had this problem? Auto install locks up my computer totally, have to hit reset. I tried the manual installation, still will not run, even deleting the Doom 3 exe file locks up my computer if the doom CD is in! As per their website I made sure no programs were running, still does not work. Maybe a defective CD?

I can play Far Cry with no problem. I know my computer is not a high end gaming machine, but it should be able to run Doom 3.

Any ideas?

I did run Adaware, Spybot and Panda active scan from safemode after the first failed installation attemp, no problems found. I also have SP2 installed if that matters.

Try returning your copy; your comp would (should) run it fine.

That was my next step, After looking at disk 1 I do see a small blemish, so I get to go to Wally World 2 days in a row! I was just hoping to get it running tonight, but I do not see that happening, I will just go shoot some mercs in Far Cry!

Well, I exchanged the game, and the computer still locked up during install. I started wondering about my CD drive.

Back when I was air cooling, I used an extra SATA adapter and was running it with that. I had no problems with this setup before, but after switching it back to the ribbon cables, EIDE I think, problem solved!

Just posting this in case anyone else runs into the same problem.

No problem, but that was definately not natural. I'd return it and get a brand spankin new copy reguardless of specs. Glad I could help.
