Has anyone looked inside their slot A proccessor case?

I did, and I found out that the connection of the proccessor to the back plate STINKS!!! The back plate where the heat sink and fan attach can only dissapate the heat that is transferred to the back plate from the proccessor. My slot A 800Mhz Athlon proccessor has a spot of thermal goop that is smaller than a dime! On my proccessor that is probably 2" x 2" square it only has a small spot of goop to transfer the heat to the back plate.

Has anyone else run into this ?

Has anyone else looked?

Any clues as to what I can do to fix this problem?

If I squeze Artic Silver II in between the proccessor and the back plate will it stay there or will it run everywhere once it's hot?

Is Artic Silver conductive?

Can't say that I have noticed such, only slot A I have is an older Athlon 700, un-OC'ed and it never will be OC'ed. Even though I believe the thermals are still good on it, being with stock HSF.

I donīt see your problem. The core and the chache fully touches the backplate, and the Backplate makes full contact to the HS.
Whatīs the problem here.
The only Thing I did, was that I removed the generic thermal paste that AMD used and used ASII instead.

If you're calling the proccessor the core, my core only contacts the back plate the diameter smaller than a dime. Less than half the core is covered with the generic thermal paste.

How did you remove the generic thermal paste?

And how did you get the AS II in that tiny gap?

Nope, how do you take it apart?

I removed the slot A proccessor ond looked up into case from the open end. The end that connects to the motherboard is open and you can see the proccessor.

I have the same problem, sort of. I bought an AMD athlon from bestbuy in October. I started getting more and more into computers and I recently opened up my case. I found out I have a "slot a" and it has no heatsink. I have a post of my problem in amd cpu's and I was also wondering if a GlobalWin VOS 32 would help my heat problem. anywho, some input would be nice.
