Is this what you wanted.
I ran prime 95 for 2 hours and had no problems what so ever.

And stable,
temps went up though,
40 idle and 58 load. Are these temps good for a prescott or are they getting too high?

Wow, very nice!

okay, can i see that in bigger res. and is it prime95 stable. run prime95 for a few hours at least. i doubt it will remain stable.

Nah those temps are just fine for a prescott core......mine ran 67 on stock cooling out of the box. Now Im at 55 at 3.71 Ghz with XP120.

runs some sandra cpu benches and see what you get
Nice job, it looks like you have a nice cpu there :D
Yes, we need to see some Sandra benches for that cpu.... it'll be interesting to see how it compares to a "C" processor.

Probably will get raped on anything involving bandwith...

I don't know how to make it larger, no matter what I do it always comes out the same size. I'm using photobucket and I think it resizes the pic. Is there something else other than photobucket I can use?
I do a burn in with sandra and have no problems. I also play games to stress the cpu and have had no problems.
I'll do some benches and post them.
How do you run Prime 95?
Do you just do the torture test or the join gimps thing?
Just run Torture Test to test for stability, run it for about 6 hours if you want to really test for stability, but if it's not stable it'll probably fail or crash within about 30 minutes.

yup run torture test. thats the best way to determine if it is stable. games, and other appliations wont. they may not put enough stress on the cpu.

what type of cooling are you using peter?

nice OC, the 2.4 is definitely the best buy for socket 478 p4's. ppl seem to dislike the presscotss for no reason at all. I wasn't able to get that high (need better RAM) but i got 3.6 stable with 2 ours+ of torture testing. Mind you i got the C0 revision

My cooling is the Zalman cnps7700AICu (heat sink and fan).
/me wants to get one to see how far it'll go on water
btw, are all 2.4a's E0 steppings?

no, i got a C0 stepping

SL88F = EO stepping.
no, i got a C0 stepping
same here  i want a E0!

i got a P4 2.4A E0 and right now i'm at 3.8Ghz as well (stock voltage)
can u get to 4Ghz? (222FSB)
i can't get it to run stable even at 1.5v
jokers_greg

iwoudlnt recommend going with more voltage, beacuse i don't want to fry this baby, but if you got really good quality parts, and you Ram also has a higher voltage. YOu can try it out
wow this is a hella of an OC :D

1.45v at the min would be fine, keep temps below 70c at the highest during long torture test runs.
Not bad on the Sandra either, that's only a little lower than what my 2.4C gets at 3.4 gigs, which is very impressive for a Celeron........ nice cpu :D
Here's my Sandra scores at 3.4 gigs for comparison (you'll need to click on the pic to actually see it unless it doesn't resize).

Not a celeron, Prescott with no htt, put on a 533mhz bus.
Oh, that's right............ I just helped a guy with a 2.4A Celeron that got to 3.8 gigs as well, so I mixed the two of them up :p

Great O/C!
My 2.8 northie wont post above 3.5, but I can Software O/C up to 3.7 where it hard locks. Might get more, but I fear voltage/SNDS/GNDS...
On the other hand , thats a prescott I wouldnt mind having... not to mention it looks like your bus speeds are low enough so that your data dosnt get fumbled as it moves around, i think its due to the multiplier though, i think mine is around X14 and yours is X18 - so you are lucky that you dont have to deal with the bad things that happen around FSB900 and above... good work.

Wha? That's rather low for a board to start getting funky at fsb900? Usually it's towards 1100 that they start getting weird.
jokers_greg
02-24-05, 06:45 AM
yea, a lower multiplier = much higher FSB, at 3.6ghz this baby's only at 800, so i don't think we ever have to worry about 1100
