Ok then. I've been modding cases for a little while now, fairly happy with cutting large gashes into otherwise happy cases. But this new 1.33 Tbird I just got really does like keeping itself warm. I got myself a Taisol 760, which I aint lapped yet, and shoved that on, but my active temps are around the 55 to 57 degree mark.

Now, I like this case as it is really. I didn't feel like butchering it up too much, so there are no case fans in it yet. Which leads probably to the lovely 40 degree mobo temps (as reported by bios and Asus Probe (the most reliable of all the monitoring software heh)).

So I started thinking 'I know, I'll build a little chiller and duct the air right at the CPU fan'. And looking round here, I saw this little link ahoy: http://www.hardwareoc.com/airchillerz.php which interested me =))

Problem is, I am on what can be described as a tight budget (about £50, or $70-75 for non-ukish people such as myself). So I need to know a couple things.

First off, would I, by using a smaller Pelt that they suggest in that article (he uses a 112w one, which is pushing it a bit on my 300w PSU), be able to see any reduction in my case and Proc temps. I'm thinking 80w ones here.

And second, although its unlikely, is there a way of stopping the condensation that might build up (not on an 80w Pelt heh) on the cold-side heatsink from being blown into my lovery thunderbird?

So. Little help?

=)))

IMHO my vote is for air cooling, if you do it right it will look professional, i would suggest using 2 fans blowing on the mobo 1 blowhole at the top of the case, i intake at the front, and a blow hole at the back

I don't recomend using peltiers on current amd cpu's, they just put out too much heat. Watercooling may be a god idea though, maybe even using a water chiller.

I need a couple decent case fans as I have now realised. The air inside the case is cycling (did it with a cigarette), and is not moving out of the case, so there is this pocket of hot air round the mobo. The machine is stable, but 56 degree load temps ain't great.

Check out the post "weird place to put a TEC...", I've posted a diagram on what I plan to do with a pelt, got myself a 15.4V, 5.2A pelt, yesterday, and two el cheapo HSFs for a K6-2 and a Pentium1. I also wouldn't suggest using one directly on a CPU, because if that thing fails, your core is as good as cooked.

Thats what I was looking at really. I just spend £40 ($55?) on fans:

a 60mm Delta for my Taisol
an 80mm Sunon for my intake which Ill duct from out the window
a 92mm Sunon for one blower at the top of the case
and some ducting for inside the case

We'll see by tuesday, mebby wednesday if that helps, but the chiller still seems a good idea. I can't afford a big pelt (They're hard to find in the UK) so i'd be stuck with an 80w one I think.
