When i first installed my amd cpu i had no stability problems but after a few days i got some strange errors like windows closing and shell extension errors.
I have a 300w psu and a fop 38 heatsink and this is the pc health stats i am getting. i am just running the cpu at spec speed.

cpu temperature 39 C

system temp 26 C

v core 1.81V

3.3value 3.38V

5v value 4.84- 4.93V

12v value 12.6V

from what i have read these specs are well within tolerences if they are corect measurments that is. what i have noticed is that if i keep the cpu temp below 44C does not tend to crash.
Do i have a dodgy chip or are my temp readings way out? as when i keep it below 42 C it is stable .

any ideas of what could be causing these errors woud be welcome.

i am getting p!$$ed off with the noise my computer makes and i am considering constructing a watercooling system.

Did you do a fresh install of windows?

What power supply are you running? how many watts?

Motherboard? Ram?

i have not reinstalled windows since upgrading my cpu as i use ghost and have not reinstalled. could someone please explain why i would need to reinstall windows when changing cpu?

as i have said i have a 300w psu but the voltages seem to be ok

i have a gigabyte 7zx with a via kt133 chipset and pc133 cas3 ram.

i only seem to get crashes when my cpu gets hot, is not reinstalling windows after changing cpu still likely to be the causing crashes in the light of this fact.

it was fine for a few days and when i was playing starcraft online the entire program vanished and i was left in windows.

however i will try reinstalling windows after i have ghosted this os on my other hd.

thanks for the input

how can u run a chip that is 266fsb on a kt133 chip motherboard/

it's not possible...unless your 1.4ghz is 200fsb

and ghosts only screw things up, never use them.....u will be A LOT better off with a fresh format/install

Did i say i was running 266 MHz chip i think not i have 200 fsb chip.

ghosts images save a lot of time installing drivers and configuring devices. I will try reinstalling but i will be getting xp soon so i dont want to spend ages reinstalling windows and then reinstalling it again. I have a lot of devices and ones that are total bitches to get working.

it can be windows screwing up itself......then in that case you will need a fresh format + install

If those temps are right it sounds like a bad chip to me. I had a chip also getting unstable at anything near 50s
