I finally switched to lcd, when my crt monitor died. This new lcd, there is a dead pixel in a corner, and the monitor is brandnew. I got my monitor, set to 75hz, 1280x1024, same settings as on my crt. But on the lcd it seems to hurt my eyes. Is this normal to have dead pixels on a brandnew lcd.
Also is 450:1 and 16ms bad for a 19" lcd.
Thanks

Anyone at all, Benq is no good, or is it just mine.
Thanks

Getting a dead pixel is a risk with any LCD purchase....any! From what I have read, about 20% of LCD's have dead pixels when brand new. You can try to massage it a little to see if it will come back to life.
If it's a store that allows returns...return it and try another.
I have this exact same monitor! I like it. It's a good monitor for the price. If you just bought it there is a $50 mail in rebate. Check out the review here:

The contrast ratio is actually higher than the specs report. Also, the review above actually indicates that it is pretty much as good as the 8ms Samsung and Hyundai for games.
I debated returning my FP931 for a Hyundai L90D+ but I was too afraid of getting a stuck pixel from a mail order monitor (mine has none).
As for hurting your eyes...it's probably the brightness or contrast. I have my brightness turned down.

I am using a DVI cable but I'm not sure it makes a huge difference. What is it you mean by small pixels accross the screen?

Small dots forming the picture? You shouldn't see anything unusual like that....it should look like your CRT monitor only brighter and not as soft. Digital pictures might look a little more "digital-like" on the digital monitor. For me this means that a compressed Jpeg might look more compressed. To lessen this effect, try turning down the contrast.
Can you try this monitor on another computer? Are you using the native 1280x1024 resolution? (anything less will look worse).
Make sure your monitor cable is inserted properly and tight enough at both ends.
Also, try turning on "clear type" effect. Under display properties (right click on your desktop wallpaper somewere and click properties) click on appearance then effects and then check off "use the following method to smooth edges of screen fonts" and make sure the pull down menu indicates "clear Type" then hit OK.
Where did you buy the monitor? Can you return it easily? Can you try a DVI cable?

You're too close to the screen! lol

It is at 1280x1024x75hz, I even tried less. I tried on two systems, both the same.
Thanks

I've had this monitor for a little bit over a month and it seems great. I do not see small dots forming a picture as you do, maybe your screen is messed up? I do have a dead pixel though, but other than that it's a great screen.

I like the size of this monitor. But I didnt even use for a week, and many more dead pixels are coming. I am seeing a very visible red bot on my screen, which is a dead pixel. Is Benq that bad, should I really consider another brand.
Thanks
Seems like there must be issues with yours. There are plenty of happy people who have purchased this monitor! Myself included. Dead pixels can happen on any LCD...even the most expensive ones.

If you can't return it then contact BenQ and see what they will do for you.

I can see the lcd creating a shadow kind of view.
Less then 1 week is dying even more. I need amonitor, if I return this one I can trust buying Benq, and Samsung is way too pricy.
THanks
I wouldn't hesitate to buy BenQ again. My FP931 is working perfectly. I also have a BenQ 1620 DVD burner that works great and I'm using BenQ blank DVD media which was purchased dirt cheap ($59 Canadian for 200 8X blanks) and has worked flawlessly so far!
My next front projector might even be BenQ as well. I think they are flooding the market with decent quality cheap electronics to get a good name for themselves. Works for me!
I've bought a few BenQs recently, a 737s-D for my mom, and another for my g/f just the other week. They've been absolutely great - no dead pixels on either, crystal clear, bright vibrant colour, and no ghosting.
