... this new ram! :bang head

I just got these two new sticks of Corsair TwinX 4400C25 and I'm finding it really hard getting it going at a decent speed, so far I've managed a pathetic 220Mhz!

With my old Geil value sticks I could get the cpu to 2.5gig (I did this by taking the ram down to ddr333 from 400), so why are things so difficult now?

Here are my settings, and these by the way are the settings I'm using on the highest o'c I can get to work;

Fastwrite disabled
CPU Throttling and Cool n Quiet off
DRAM DDR400 2T 2.5-4-4-8
LDT x 4 (also tried 3)
CPU @ 220Mhz x 11 (2.4Gig)
VCore 1.425 (tried increasing this to 1.475)
AGPv 1.55 (tried increasing to 1.60)
DDRv 1.60 (have also tried at 1.65, also it always shows .1v higher on the guru clock than it does in the windows guru utility and bios
:eh?: )
NBv 1.50
SBv 2.50

I have also tried bringing the multiplier down but when i try and do anything but standard in the bios (1.7) it doesn't like it and tends to give the blue screen.

Can anyone help me? If I can't make some progress on this in the next few days I'll have to send the ram back, I'm a little worried it just doesn't work in an ABit AV8 - even though Corsair claim it's compatible.

Welcome To The Forums!

Well first of all, did you mean that the voltage was actually 2.6? If so, you can go up to 2.9v without anything to worry about.

Also, have you tried testing 1 stick at a time? Might be a good idea to try out.

Great band by the way.

Hehe they certainly are a good band, sorry I'm so poor at making my own names up for these forums - I feel like I ripped them off! Nice to know that about the ram voltage.

Your ram timings are very loose considering you are underclocking it. Also. that's tccd ram and 2.9v may be a bit too much for it's liking. Is there a reason you are runnig at 2t? Ypu lose a lot running it that way. TCCD will also benefit from some burn in so, hang in there. Good luck.

Corsair ram actually has problems with loose timings. In fact, when I was using Corsair ram and had to reset my CMOS I would have to swap ram and set up tighter timings then put the Corsair ram back in.

Firstly thanks for the replies people! :)

I'm running it at 2T as the AV8 doen't like runnign anything at 1T, it just blue screens or refuses to post. I have been told by corsair in another thread that it's ok to push it to 2.9v as it's designed to go that far, when I pushed it that far it was more stable at higher speeds, but it was unfortunately never stable at it's stock of 275. I couldn't get the cpu to get over 2.53 and be stable so I decided to send the ram back and stick with my value geil, 2.475 and no problems! :)

Sounds like you made a wise decision. Good luck.

ease up on the cpu overclock (go back to stock.. and see if you can get the memory up higher... Try to run at 275 x 8 (work up to it with an x8 multi and 3x HTT).

Yeah already tried it, it didn't want to go at those speeds - think it might be somethin to do with the memory controller or ram compatibility with the AV8 (it's known for being a bit of a crap board).
