How can u keep the fan's noise down without changing it speed or moddifying it...

there are a few ways, insulate your case, less noise getts to you, or if the fan is mounted with screws, make a mound of glue with a glue gun to cushon it, absorbing some of the vibrations

If you're case is on the desk, stick it under the desk =))

Air filters help to cut some of the noise out.

I use 4 80x32 mm Papst fans. Two intake and two out. They push about 54 cfm /piece and are very quiete. But a bit expensive:(
The loudest Fans are my dual 26cfm 60mm Y.S.-Tech Fans on my HS

I just invested in a delta for my proc (Taisol standard one is crap) and a couple 92 mm sunons for blowing and sucking (Pardon?!), with the intake soon to be connected to the outside world. Dunno about the noise yet heh.

7V mod not exactly moddding the fan but the cable =)
I saw this article which unfortunately i dont have the link anymore but, the guy put foam sheets on the other side of the case covers (inner part) it suppostly worked out good for him so maybe you should give it a try, foam sheets arent expensive at all so try it out ;)

someone said you can put graphite in the bearings under the sticker and that decreases noise

By the way, any fast but quiet fan? (5800 or above)

Fans produce mostly high frequency noise that is largely directional. Any kind of physical barrier you can put between you and the computer will probably help to cut down on the noise. A heavy piece of cloth or plastic hung in front of the computer can sometimes help a lot. Just be careful not to cut off your access to fresh air.
As far as the fan speed, I'd be more concerned about how many CFM the fan was rated for rather than how many RPM. While they're obviously related, for cooling the big thing is air flow, not fan blade speed. A bigger, slower fan will usually push more air with a lot less noise. I have some 120mm Panaflo fans that move three or four times as much air as my 60mm HS fans but make about half as much noise.

The idea of a motor is basically the same!
Fans use motors, R/C use motors.
And I did tons, and I mean TONS!, of research on motors, ed!
and you can also mod it to fit on the heatsink!

it's not possible to mount a motor onto a fan.......express means you learn stuff faster........not solve crap
and......edmund....if you think your fan is loud then u should come to my house one day and listen to my delta 7500rpm, 6 case fans, pci slot fan, 2 psu fans, mobo chipset fan and vid card fan
that's louder than all you have
and sticking a comp under the desk will make it hotter

don't think you will ever mod it......most of the things is eitehr u cant find in hong kong or it costs very expensive....

software is not my kind of thing.....i don't have the brains for it....and even if i know what the functions do i won't use them since i cant think of any way to use it
hardware i like a lot......and i look into that only.....although i know how to use the basic functions of software....
it's jsut too bad they don't provide any hardware, system management(admin), networking, etc,etc at the school
they just put it all in a big chunk and that makes it horrible...!
i hate to play with photoshop or xara.....it sucks bad enough and i doubt i will neeed those skills for anything

I just got a book about photoshop in the libuary. I'd try to make it look better...hoping...
And damn!, I have two stupid gaylos in my group... damn it! I wish I didn't take IT... (Not talking about you Johnathan, the other two...:) )
