View Full Version : Old laptop to New How...
I could be gettin a old Toshiba laptop about 6yrs old and i would like to do an upgrade if i got it, so is it possible to add say a Athlon XP-M with a Micro-ATX board....
What problems do i have to over come
Like Hooking the screen up, Cooling, power etc
Your not going to be doing this with a desktop board and still fitting in the original case, sorry to say but it ain't going to happen. Laptops are about 1.5" high maybe 2" with a real old one but that includes the screen, keyboard, and case.

you cant just replace the mobo in a laptop - and one being that old you wont be able to do anything - you will have to buy a new laptop ALL parts.
A micro ATX is a "desktop" motherboard, not a laptop board - only recentl can u buy motherboards for laptops - btu they come with the case and screen
I think you need to read up a bit more on laptops and thier parts.

Memory, maybe the processor, and the hard drive will most likely be your only options for an upgrade.
