View Full Version : which one should i get?
which one should i get?
i would really like to get the radeon, but i cant afford the full radeon ddr w/ tv out.....and i cant find an LE anywhere w/ tv out. and i need the tv out.
ive been looking at a lot of reviews and benchmarks, and im not sure if i want to get a gf2MX card.
i have found these cards, both locally so no shipping....which would be the better card to get?
MSI STARFORCE 815 NVIDIA GEFORCE2 GTS 32MB AGP W/ VID OUT RETAIL $185CDN
Leadtek Geforce-II GTS PRO 32M DDR 5.5ns@200mhz AGP4x w/ TV-out $190CDN
i cant go over that pricepoint...even that is kinda streching my budget. so which is better? or are there any other recommendations?

Looks like your in Canada, I am in Vancouver and I was also looking at the MSI Geforce 2 GTS for same price. But I got the computer paper here in Vancouver and searched for the lowest priced Radeon 64 DDR VIVO card.
I found it at Addax Computers for $249, then I went to Futureshop and got them to price match cause they sold it for $299.99 Canadian. When you find a lower price they beat the price by another 10% of the diff, so I got the card for $245 canadian. I would scrape the bucks together and do the same.
The ATI radeon 64 DDR is an excellent card, it runs very cool you can tweak it out and the 2d video BLOWS Nvidia cards away, plus frames are pretty much the same compared to a Geforce 2 GTS Pro at 1024x768 in 32BIT !!! Yes at 16 bit it gets beat but who is playing 16 bit when there is 32 bit. Get a Radeon for the extra tiny bit of cash, in fact I maybe able to turn you on to a Radeon 32 DDR card (no TV out) for $90-$100 canadian in Surrey BC that I almost bought but I needed VIVO, if interested email me at sunfire@chek.com

Quizno,
I noticed that your looking at the Leadtek GF2 pro 5.5 ns model
Newegg.com (http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduct.asp?submit=manufactory&catalog=48&manufactory=1280) Has the GF2 pro 32 with 5 ns ram for $115 US and the GF2 Pro 64 5 ns for $139 us
I am very happy with my Leadtek card and have used both the Pro and the Ultra and both Overclocked extremely well
My best advise is to hold off buying anything until after Sept. 24th when the ATI radeon 7500 and 8500 are put up for sale.
Its possible that a price war between ATI and NVIDEA may develop and you may be able to get more bang for your buck/
PS Newegg doesnt ship internationally but if you cant get a card reasonable through Canadian resellers Shoot me a PM, I recently helped a fellow overclocker in Australia Get a hard to find ABIT mobo to him via the USPS. Luckily rates to Canada are pretty reasonable.

Errr, make sure you ask em if thats DDR.
my Radeon LE has tv out, for $83 shipped.
thanks for the replies.
well, heres the situation. i bought a radeon VE from futureshop for $150, only to find out its a crappy card(for 3d). now i have 20 days left to return it for a full refund....so maybe ill wait out a little longer and see what happens when the 8500 is released.
id love to get that radeon 64ddr....but even another $50 right now is too much. ill see.
i noticed that at addax....i bought my whole system there a while back actually. ill phone em up....but i also see atic has the same card for $129 too, but they mention the sdr part.
i am also in vancouver, bc....just so you know.
ill think about newegg...but id rather buy locally. im gonna do some searching first and try and make that happen.
hmmmm.....i have the suspicion that ill be pretty damn broke by the end of this:)
