Hello,
I'm in the middle of moving right now. I cracked my original XP Home edition CD. The upgrade copy of XP Pro (Which I bought off of Amazon for $179) says it can't identify that there was an operating system before. That's because I bought a new Hard Drive because my old one crapped out.

Now I'm stuck and can't upgrade my system...UGH! please help me out.

I should be able to use someone else's full version XP Home, (Or Win 2000, or Win ME, or Win 98, Win 95, Win NT...) right just for the verification part?

Yeah borrow like 98 or me and then use your upgrade disk. Or if you have a old HDD you could put it in as master and let windows detect the older os then just pick your other HDD as the instilltion one. Though I am not even sure if xp install lets you pick a slave to install on. So yeah just do first way haha.
