I am able to get medically sterilised water. Will this be ok to use in a wc setup? I know that de-ionized and distilled are what most people use but I was wondering if anyone has used sterilised?
Thanks
AFAIK Sterlised means bacteria has been removed from it. Not sure if it is deionised or distilled though. Deionised water has most non H+ or OH- ions removed.

using medically sterilised water would likely be pointless, as your loop is bound to have bacteria inside it already.

It is a new system not yet installed so there should be no bacteria. Here is a link to the stuff.

It may still have metal and other ions in it. Also just because the loop is new doesnt mean there isnt already bacteria on it. Bacteria hide just about everywhere.

I beg to differ, If it has been exposed to normal air inside a home, chances are it has a bit of bacteria in it.

Yup bacteria is everywhere. Distilled water is made from about the same process as the medical water so it is pointless. there is no such thing as Sterile once somthng leaves a sealed container. Trust me. I had to go through tons of microbiology and work with "Sterile" tecknique every day at work. There have been studies that show there is not a big diffrence between cleaning with tap water and steral water but you are sure to get sued if you dont use the most expensive stuff avalable.

Yup, unless you can find a way to re-sterilize during several points of the install, there are going to be some biologics present. How long that lasts, and if it proliferates, depends on the additives you use.

I don't think there is any way to keep the water sterile unless you also sterilize all of your components and then put them together in a sterile environment. It seems that it would be a lot easier to kill the bacteria in the loop than go through all of that.
Using de-ionized water is, to me, a wasted expense. As soon as the water comes into contact with any metal components in your system it will begin to re-ionize. So, distilled water is still your best choice--and at less than $1 per gallon at the market it isn't expensive.
