Why don't you run a benchmark to actually find out. You can get the TLC benchmark file and run it through using each configuration you mentioned. Otherwise we would just be guessing.

Oh, so I just process that wu 2 times, using my 2 different settings, and see which one is the quickest? That sounds easy enough.

That's it. Since you're doing the same amount of work each time you'll be able to see which settings work better. You might want to browse through the results that have been submitted too. Gives you an idea of how different systems compare. Of course yours truly is currently #1 :D
