Ok, I highly prefer Opera. Older version, 6.something. However it has constant issues with java and tons of other things. I have used it for so long I have all of my bookmarks in there. I can easily save them in it to use later after a new install etc. Due to the issues I would like to swap to a new browser. Firefox is what I am thinking. However, I cant import the bookmarks!!!!
I have so many it would take me days to get them all set for Firefox or even IE.
Does anyone know an easy way to save them and be able to swap them into a new browser?

Maybe a different browser still? A few things it MUST have, tabs for multiple windows within the single window, mouse gestures, and if at all possible, window viewing adjustments. With Opera, you can change the view size, text, pictures etc.

So, ah yea, suggestions?

Simple. Opera.

Why not upgrade to a new version, maybe your issues will be fixed?

Ah yea, forgot that part. Tried the 7.something, and hated it. The look, the feel, all of it.

You can't import your Opera bookmarks through...Bookmarks | Manage Bookmarks | File | Import | From File...?

I can go through the steps and it looks like it finishes, but it actually does nothing.

I just found this...

Firefox : FAQs : Importing Opera Bookmarks

...which I didn't know about.

Which has a link and it allows me to move them over. Exactly what I was needing!
Thanks for the help.

Ok, I now have been able to move all my bookmarks from Opera to Firefox.
My next question is, is there any way for Firefox to be able to save the pages you have loaded as Opera does? I am going to do some searching through the ... ah whata'r they called? the added download things to add patches into it. Like mouse gestures, tabbing etc.
Well, Im gonna do some looking through those things.
Thanks

Actually, yea know, I have another question...
What do you people who use firefox install ah yea, extentions! lol

What extentions do you all use and/or prefer?

Excellent!!
Found the extention to keep tabs saved when you close firefox.
The only MAJOR thing I am running into that I really dont like is mouse gestures. For some reason I cannot get them to work. And that, will NOT work.
Otherwise Firefox is appearing to be my full time browser now. ;)

My next question is, is there any way for Firefox to be able to save the pages you have loaded as Opera does?
Save the pages you have loaded? I assume you mean that when you click back you want the page you were just on to instantly appear? If so, that is not possible to my knowledge although you can set a certain quantity of physical memory to be used for cache by adding:

// Sets how much system memory Firefox can use for cache
user_pref("browser.cache.memory.capacity", 65536);

To your user.js file (how (http://www.mozilla.org/support/firefox/edit)). The number is in KB so in the example it is 64mb. This may or may not help. I personally find Mozilla apps to be rather pagey. I assume its because people complain endlessly about memory usage. In my opinion as long as its not wasted usage all memory usage is a good thing and makes an application run faster. Anyway...

About extensions, there are a few essentials and a thousand you might or might not like.

The essentials: AdBlock (http://adblock.mozdev.org/)
Tabbrowser Preferences (https://addons.update.mozilla.org/extensions/moreinfo.php?application=firefox&version=1.0.1&os=Windows&id=158) or Tabbrowser Extensions (http://piro.sakura.ne.jp/xul/tabextensions/index.html.en) (depending on how much control you want)
IEview (https://update.mozilla.org/extensions/moreinfo.php?application=firefox&id=35&vid=1179)

And of course if you like gestures you'll want to grab a gesture extension. I know there are a few of them but have not used any.

There are a load of extensions, so you're best off going to Mozilla Update (https://addons.update.mozilla.org/extensions/?application={ec8030f7-c20a-464f-9b0e-13a3a9e97384}) and browsing to see if anything catches your eye.

And thats all I have to say about that. Oh wait one more thing. Firefox is not Opera. I know it must be hard moving browsers after so long but don't kill yourself trying to make it do everything the same way as Opera did. That is just not possible, nor the vice versa.. so be sure to spend some time with the browser and you'll likely get comfortable with it.

EDIT - I need to not spend so much time typing posts :-/ Next time you do that to me I shall smite thee :) You have to use an extension for gestures. I don't use them myself because I have a multi button mouse which I find much more intuitive.

lol
Sorry 'bout that. :D
Thanks for the info, I have gone through most and have gotten what I think I might like/want etc.
However one of the few that are pretty much mandatory I cant get to work right!!! Mouse gestures! Bah... guess I will just have to play with it and try out the different ones and see if I can get one of them to work right.
