Running some more tests but so far, stable.
Idle temps are 40 degrees
Load temp 60 degrees on air cooling.
I'm a little worried about the load temp being high. You think it's ok for a P4 2.4a prescott?
Also my voltage is just over 1.5. CPUz says 1.504 but it's a little higher in the bios. Is this ok for the p4 2.4a prescott?

I'd say it's fine. Intel boxes out chips that are hitting 75C with their cooler, but I would say keep it under 65C tops.
1.5v is the highest I would run 24/7, but I would say it's fine.

i dont trust a pressy over 55C
Wow. Awesome overclock!
The 2.4a only has a 400Mhz bus. How can you get it over 800mhz?

It's a prescott @ 533 bus.

i dont trust that hes not throttling!
please run ThrottleWatch while under full load for an extended period of time....
It's a prescott @ 533 bus.
400, 533... still interesting that it gets to over 800.
I had a 1.2a running at over 3GB, and it seemed slow. WIsh I had checked the bus speed.

Prescott wont throttle tell mid to high 70s celsius, hes not throttling. Hell all the prescotts I have built on stock cooling run mid 60s full load.

um....isn't that what overclocking is all about? I have the 800 FSB stock prescott that I run at 1100.

Wow, I just did the same thing with a new 2.4GHz E0 stepping Celeron-D and I figured you would of gotten a higher SANDRA MIPS score. I was able to get 10,750 MIPS with the same 18x223 clock speed.
You should be able to run it at 3.6GHz with only default voltage btw.
Any what way these E0 stepping chips are nice.

You should compare this to Sen's processor, we all wanna see the difference. But that is seriously a hell of a nice overclock man, keep it up :)

well done peter, i got to 4ghz but it was a little unstable (i have a C0). However did you do a heat tunnel mod to blow cool air onto your cpu cooler? it'll drastically reduce your temps. again well done.

Yes, I did the case heat mod tunnel and it really reduced the temps.
What is happening at 4.0 is I ran prime 95 with no errors and when I play games it's fine except for one game (Quake 3) this is what I also use to check stability.
Quake 3 plays fine until I exit the game. Then the exit screen freezes but the system is still running. I control, alt, delete and end the Quake 3 task and everything is back to normal again.

The system is down.... Ill post tommorow
hey guyz where can i find some guides on the case heat mod tunnel? please help me

See if this works.

All the tunnel does is let the CPU fan draw cool outside air straight to the CPU. A 120mm fan blowing on the CPU, chipset, and graphics card is way better IMHO. I can turn my cpu fan off using "SpeedFan", and my idle temps only rise 1-2 degrees. That proves the 120 is doing a lot of good. Under load running SuperPi, CPU temps rise from ~141 up to 145-146. YMMV on a Pressie! :)

yea, but the tunnel is better because it send the cool air DIRECTLY on th emost heated object, which is the cpu. YOu could always add tunnels to your chipset and graphics cardsif you wnated to. But with all that air being pushed in at the motherboard you'll definitely notice a large increase in noise. this is why the tunnel is efficient. you only need a blowhole, atleast 2 intakes, and the tunnel mod to keep temps really low.

The 120mm fan is better because it blows cool fresh air directly on the hottest objects. (CPU, Chipset, RAM, and Video Card) Large fans blow much more efficiently than small fans suck. Large, low RPM fans are quiet too. I can hardly hear my 120 blowing.
Try turning off your CPU fan and watch the temps skyrocket. When I turn off my CPU fan, the temps hardly increase at all.
The duct is better than nothing, but not even close to a 120 bathing the entire area in cool fresh air.

if your using the stock p4 cooler and you do a ducting mod to draw fresh air from outside the case you still probably wont get as low a temperature as you would with a xp120 and a decent fan provided theres adequate case ventilation.
the thing to do would be to couple the ducting mod with a xp-120 then you get the ability to remove more heat from the cpu with the better hsf and cooler temps from outside the case

oh well obviously but i mean if you have a 120mm tunnel mod on a heatsink such as the XP-120 then its much more efficient than jsut the xp-120 without a mod. you can never have too much cool fresh air

by tunnel mod do you mean ducting mod or are you talking about something diffrent?
its not really a tunnel your building in your computer but an air duct just wanted to make sure we're talking about the same thing.
