I am thinking of installing Win2k and I have a couple of questions.
Should I upgrade or install full version?
If I upgrade do I need to install 98 first?
Are there any websites to help with install and configuration?
Would it be worth it?

it's better if you do a full install as you won't have left over junk from windows 98
and yes it will be worth it to get win2k
lots more stability

Start the installation of 2000 from Windows 98. It will give you the option of upgrading, or doing a clean install. Use the NTFS formatting option, and you can apply folder permissions and other security options......

Gee, 2 different opinions.
What is NTSF?
NTFS is a file system that is much more stable than FAT or FAT32 and allows you to restrict access to any files or folders you wish.

Windows 2000 won't setup from DOS. Because it doesn't use DOS.
You need to run setup from Win98 (or wharever one you use)
It gives you the choice of FAT or NTFS. NTFS means you can set up access privelages for each user. I love it. It keeps your favourites and IE history private as well, with the advantage of, if you give yourself administrator rights, you have full access to everything...................even other users stuff..........

Yes, the upgrade version should be cheaper than the full version. If it's not then buy the full version and boot to the CD and install from there.
