Hello all. I'm using the Happauge PVR-250 with Sage TV. Old connection had the main cable line split, with one end going to my VCR/tv/receiver, and the other end going to another splitter with one end going to the cable modelm and the other into the PVR-250.
So, the cable guy comes today and I wanted him to run the line in (from outside) to the IN on the digital box (Pioneer DB-V3501) and the OUT to the splitter, which would then run to 1) the VCR and 2) the next splitter with the cable modem/ tv tuner.
Cable guy tells me that you cannot run the signal coming out of the digital box to the cable modem. Said it wouldn't work. Ok, fine. So then I told him I would later split the output of the digital box to 1) the VCR and 2) the tv tuner. He then told me that in order to watch or record tv on the computer like that, it would only work for the channel selected on the cable box. IS THIS TRUE??? And if so, how do I get around it???? I want to be able to record every digital channel I get, but I want the ability to change channels at will on the cable box, while watching and / or recording a different channel on the computer, like I used to before the introduction of this cable box.
Anyone have any ideas??? FWIW, the cable box has additional outs besides the coax cable. They are: S-video out, digital audio out, serial port, and the triple RCA outs (Video Left, and Right)
Thanks in advance for any replies
