My brother owns a Compaq(sucks) computer, I dont remember the model number, but its a
slot a atlon 1ghz
128mb compaq ram
soundblaster 5.1 platnum
voodoo 3 3500

Now, the problem is that he put in a stick of 64mb pc133 and screwed something up because his computer works on a 100mhz fsb. Even after he took out the ram it is going about 1% of the speed it should be. Any ideas on what piece of hardware needs to be replaced? Thanks for your help.

Well...PC133 should make your PC work better!
Did you put the ram properly?

Yes, the ram was placed in properly. But it is my belief that having the faster ram in there fried something, maybe his memory? But i dont really know.

Is that Athlon 1 gig a 200mhz FSB chip. If it is and putting 133mhz memory in will not make it automaticly go to 133mhz. I would go into the BIOS and try to change it there, but with Compaq you probaly won't have that option. Maybe look for a jumper on the board itself.
