I'm going to buy a new graphics card... and need some of you're advice on the subject. I have pretty much decided on what to buy, but I thought I'd run it by you ppl first. The question is;
Asus AGP V8200 GeForce3 64MB DDR DeLuxe
any good?
Then I'd like to hear about things like OC ability etc.
thx

wait till the radeons come out......youll get a better geforce3 price, or you could get a radeon which should be a little faster than a geforce3.......

If I were able to wait a bit longer I would... but if I run around waiting for the latest of the latest all the time I will never get to buy a GC. Besides... money ain't that big a problem, so I'll buy a new one in 5 months. I just want to know what I should get NOW.

if ya cant wait get the gf3.....if i ahd waited a month more to get my gf2pro i wouldve have saved 20 dollars and been able to get a gainward card with 4.5ns ram!!!(that basically an ultra once you oc it).......its your choice man
Can't go wrong with that Asus card. Trouble is, there are so many good GF3 cards being produced right now that it's hard to pick just one. Gainward, Vision Tec, Elsa, Asus and MSI all make fine GF3 cards.

ok... thx for the advice ppl. I'll wait and see if someone else have anything to say about my choice of GC, and buy it tuesday if nothing better surfaces. :)
how about it's OC ability with its current fan and heatsinks? how much juice can I get out of it? Allso... the only thing i ever have OCed is my CPU. How is this done with a GC? Do I just use some software to OC, or do I need to do some mods on the card? If only software is needed, what software is the best for the task? And when it comes to cooling... how do I read the temps? Are there sensors allready in place, or do I need to install some my self? What are the acceptable temps on GCs?
thx in advance! :)

Wait! Don't buy anything yet! Check this out:
http://www.pricewatch.com/1/37/3094-1.htm
The 3D Power/Absolute Multimedia Morpheus. The Morpheus can be seen in the attachment.
It is reguarded as the best looking GeForce3 by many (Including myself!) It has more then adequate cooling, with it's Purplorb and thicker then average RAMSinks, and at $259, it's the second cheapest GeForce3 on pricewatch.com! How can you possibly pass it up!?

That card doesn't take video in... if it don't, I don't want it.
For a person who wants and can afford the best, why don't you just walk in and buy the most expensive card you can find, and put a down payment on the next generation of cards so you'll ALWAYS have the best...
Must be nice when money is no object...Jeezuz!!! What suprises me is that so many people are playing right into the hands of the card mfrs...prices are ridiculous, especially when you consider that the next wave will be coming in so short a time...How can any of us seriously think of spending many hundreds of dollars per year on all the newest drivel that comes along...prices should be progressively cheaper, not more expensive.
Sorry for the rantn n ravin temper tantrum...prepare to VENT...

he he, the most expencive card out there I'm afraid I cannot afford. Some of those cards are expencive as HE*L! :)
Anyway... I just bought the ASUS card, and I'm hopeing it's a good one.
I've seen good reviews about the Asus card (see link below). As for overclocking a vid card, it's done with software. Most cards come with some way to change the core and memory frequency. If not, then download Cool Bits or several other tweaking programs that are available. Lots of 3D sites to get more info from, like 3D Guru, etc. I think you'll need to buy a remote temp probe if you want to check temps.
