It's true, people are playing this game right now, don't know where to find it though.... ignore my previous message, don't post the download here. It is an illegal version, not to be released.

My friend works at Legend he is going to be ****ed if the game has leaked! I better ICQ him the bad news.
Don't fret, it's just the E3 alpha version, so people have played it before and there isn't much too it. Just walking around and firing a weopon or two.
Those screenshots came directly from people who have downloaded the illegal pre-alpha game (not released, leaked).

Good luck runnig that with a GF2 MX..... or a cpu under 800mhz... Wow.
don't bother dling it cuz you need to run XP pro and a geforce 2 to get it to work and it is only an alpha release so it really isn't worth the effort cuz it is not a full game just a few levels to show the new features of the unreal engine.
fuzzball if you find it don't post anything cuz the mods will jump on you if you even if you just mention "wheres"

A woman around here got busted for MS fraud and is now serving a 5 or 10 year jail term. So lets see MS = Bill Gates= The devil so then if a Game company = X and Xp = y and being that they would be using this game for R&D so that means that Vid card comp = z
X+Y+Z = You in a cell with a big guy named bubba who thinks you have a cute butt for at least 2 maybe 3 years. If your under age then your end up in juvi with a guy named marco. Either way I see the same thing happening. Plus once you out your going to have to pay off legal fees and also the massive fine that the companys are going to stick you with.

Well to stop a flame war my friend at Legend has an army of lawyers but they are going after who leaked it cuz all the disks they sent out had a digital sig and I don't think they have the power to go after everyone since this thing is already everywhere. I found it after about 2minutes and didn't even bother dling it cuz it would be a waste of bandwidth except for the most die hard unreal fans. I haven't even finished unreal 1.

No... that's all I can say.
There is no way that Q3A looks better than Unreal2. There are not even in the same ballpark.
As for the Unreal2 digital signature... sounds good to me. Serves people right for going after that file. Although I don't expect them to track everyone down, it just won't happen. The people that downloaded U2 alpha were very enthusiastic about buying the game, so the company will not pursue that unless they want a customer relations nightmare.

I think Legend knows who leaked it and it looks like it may have been somebody internal. I can't really say cuz they aren't sure yet but looks like somebody screwed the pooch big time!

Umm...ok, say if I had the game*wink*, and wanted to change maps and some other settings, how would I do that? Not that I DO have it*nudge*, because that would be illegal*wink*, but how would I change the map and other whatnots?
edit: actually, i went back to an old install of Unreal 1, and found that all my settings are in a system file called "unreal", so I guess*wink* it will be the same in Unreal 2 ;)
You're absolutely right. Telling people how they can get it would be against forum rules. But I think you'd be hard-pressed to find anybody here who wouldn't know how to find it.

I have it also but it doesn't run. I have read that it doesn't run because it was made for windows Xp and i'm running win98. By the way which should i get Windows Xp Pro or windows XP home edition and why?

I wouldn't imagine that it requires a GeForce card exclusively. I'm sure anybody w/ a half-decent 3d accelerator could run it.

Yeah, but I don't think many of us can afford an OC3 line, as much as we'd like. Cable is good enough for me.

Alot of Alpha are teasers to get interest stirred but it appears to have been leaked without approval. I have been able to look at it and I am very impressed.

man I could never make my own level but I had people all around me pumping out levels allmost every day.....When will they make a eazy one????I mean they said the level design for max payne was going to be real eazy that all can make levels....I still can't understand it!

Alright, people, listen up.
Here are the FACTS about the past few days.
1. The build that we took to show at E3 has been leaked somehow. It is not a "beta". It is not an "alpha". It is not a "pre-alpha". It is a highly specialized build designed to show off specific things--NOT a build for people to randomly take screenshots and post them all over the web.
2. This was not done intentionally. We would not release something half-finished, and give people the opportunities to do what has been done over the last few days.
3. The crackdown begins NOW. From this moment forward, anyone who posts screenshots, links to download sites, or anything else details-related about this build will be immediately banned.
4. Any help you guys could provide us would be very much appreciated. If you downloaded the files from this site or that site, give me the site URL.
This is NOT a case of "Well, it's a publicly released demo, I have the right to download and play it." No, you do not. I've heard this situation compared to Napster. "They're both kinda piracy, what's the difference?"
Well, for one thing, Napster never went from record studio to record studio and stole recordings from musicians that were not even half-finished.
That is all, gentlemen. Don't expect me to be Mr. Nice Grant about this. If you make my job harder than it is right now, there's going to be trouble.

Sorry to say it harsh, Legend guys, but if you think that you can "contain" this thing, then you need to wake up. This is already out of hands. You can't stop it any more. I've talked to a lot of UT gamers and my estimation is that at least 500 people worldwide have already downloaded it. And it's getting more by the minute, as people set up private FTP servers and let their close friends grab it. The only thing that will slow down the spreading of this baby is the size. 570MB rules out all the modemers (like me).
Like I've said before: This reminds me of the time when the first UT aimbot was leaked. Forum moderators tried to limit distribution by deleting download links of forums. Maybe that slowed down the spreading a bit, but in the end everybody who wanted one got one. What limited the distribution of aimbots was the moral aspect. People considered it bad and anybody posting links or asking for the aimbot in public got flamed. This is not the case for this leaked pre-alpha. Having talked to many people I see that only a very small percentage of the gamers consider it warez or have a moral problem downloading it. They say: "I only want a preview; I'll certainly buy the full game when it's out." And quite frankly I don't blame them for it.
I'm not saying Legend should ignore the sitatuation. I certainly understand that Epic/Legend can't tolerate download links on this forum, although it probably won't help much.
What I'm trying to say is that I think instead of trying to "contain" this, Legend should rather accept the fact that this thing will be spread and come up with a strategy how to adress the questions and comments arising from it. Maybe it is the time now to officially release the big info now that was supposed to be published in October/November. People say "Bah, there are no shadows in the U2 alpha." Okay, then release 1-2 sreenshots showing shadows! People say: "Bah, Aida doesn't look right." Okay, then release a little video clip showing how she actually moves and looks in the game. Release some good stuff that makes all the critics shut up. I know it wasn't your intention to release that "good stuff" in the near time, but the situation has changed. If you don't give the people anything, then they are going to get it "the other way".
As far banning everyone who posts screenshots from the built: I think this is over-reaction. I have downloaded about 40 screenshots from about 10 different sites on the web and I've probably seen only 10% of what is actually around. You want to hunt down all the websites that post pictures from this built? Good luck. Most of the screenshots look very nice and I don't see a problem with them being spread.

The problem with those screenshots is that a lot of people who might look at them are not aware that those shots aren't representative of the final version of the game and therefore will draw their conclusions about the game based on those shots. And that's not desirable at the moment, because that stuff is old, and does not define the final look of Unreal 2.
I'm not sure how many people would actually go ahead and download the alpha. It won't be easy to find, if you're not looking for it, and the news of the alpha aren't all that widespread yet (or at least I hope they aren't).
What's out is out, the only thing left to do is to spread the w3rd that it's just an illegally leaked alpha, and people should not judge the game based on it.
well said! I think they should release a demo soon or a video cuz that is all I want to see and I don't feel like warezing it. So if Legend would get a clue they would send something else out instead of going up hill trying to keep gamers away from something cool.

it was my friend that convenced me to get unreal Tourny I played the demo way too long...The game is fricking cool! so is the music! So I say dont warez it guys if you mess your own system up it's your own falt. And plus I like haveing the box in front of me...
